A two-year pilot with Zilveren Kruis Achmea and Apple for 1,500+ policyholders — an innovative reward program for vital behaviour combining an Apple Watch, the Actify Move app, and a financial reward for daily goals.

Overview

The pilot ran through the end of 2019. In year one, a significant share of participants hit their daily goals more often than other Actify Move users, and the hypotheses on customer engagement and retention were more than achieved.

Challenge

The hypothesis: if insured customers purchase an Apple Watch and are rewarded daily, for two years, for achieving personally set goals, then —

Process

Study of prior insights and desk research on rewards with the Center for Advanced Hindsight team at Duke University. Customer interviews — problem- and solution-focused. Study and analysis design. Creative and design sessions with Apple. Apple Watch app design. Design of the reward rule engine. Recruitment plan testing. Pilot launch, running through the end of 2019.
